Chester Zoo

Ten minutes drive from The Courtyard, or one stop on the train from Helsby to Chester (8 minutes) and catch the new FREE Tiger Bus service from Chester Staion straight to the Zoo running every hour from 9.30am to 6.30pm daily.

Chester Zoo is the UK’s no 1 charity Zoo. Packed with 7,000 rare, exotic and endangered animals in 110 acres of award-winning gardens, Chester Zoo is a fantastic and stimulating day out for all ages. With 11 miles of footpath and a vehicle-free site, you’re free to roam and discover what’s around the corner. Where else can you visit for a day that’s value for money and your funds goes directly to a conservational charity?

New at Chester Zoo!
Cheetahs – The world’s fastest land mammal, the cheetah, has returned to the collection. View them from the new Bats Bridge!
Philippine Crocodiles – This freshwater crocodile, found only in the Philippine islands, is one of the most threatened crocodile species in the world. Their new enclosure is in the Tropical Realm.
For spectacular colour and a whole new sensory experience, visit the Butterfly Journey home to up to 30 different species of exotic and native species.
New arrivals – Come along and see our babies, including Kirana, the new baby orang-utan and Asani, the Eastern black rhino calf, the first to be born at Chester Zoo for 10 years!

Forthcoming activities at the Zoo include:
Big Cat Chats – learn all about our big cat species in the Yurt at the Cheetah enclosure.
